1:31 God saw all that he had made – and it was very good! ¹  There was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day.

Kejadian 7:3

7:3 and also seven ²  of every kind of bird in the sky, male and female, ³  to preserve their offspring ⁴  on the face of the earth.

[1:31]  ¹ tn The Hebrew text again uses הִנֵּה (hinneh) for the sake of vividness. It is a particle that goes with the gesture of pointing, calling attention to something.

[7:3]  ² tn Or “seven pairs” (cf. NRSV).

[7:3]  ³ tn Here (and in v. 9) the Hebrew text uses the normal generic terms for “male and female” (זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה, zakhar unÿqevah).

[7:3]  ⁴ tn Heb “to keep alive offspring.”

[21:6]  ⁵ tn Heb “Laughter God has made for me.”

[21:6]  ⁶ tn The words “about this” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[21:6]  ⁷ sn Sarah’s words play on the name “Isaac” in a final triumphant manner. God prepared “laughter” (צְחֹק, ysÿkhoq ) for her, and everyone who hears about this “will laugh” (יִצְחַק, yitskhaq ) with her. The laughter now signals great joy and fulfillment, not unbelief (cf. Gen 18:12-15).
